I am interested in installing a steam room in my basement for home use, but am not clear as to whether or not a drain is needed. Are drains needed for personal steam room ands if so, what type of drain do you recommend since i want to put the room in the basement and I have to pump and drainage into the sewer pipe.

This room needs to be drained the same as any other shower.  You will need to pipe the generator to a drain as well.  Read more about steam generator Design & Installation or call a Project Coordinator to help you with your steam room from start to finish.
