Title: steam generator sizing
Post by: xny1989 on September 28, 2011, 12:24:21 PM
I've used your steam generator sizing tool and have come up with 108 adjusted cubic feet. I note that the 5 Kw generators generally are sufficient for up to 100 cubic feet. What would be the downside if I went with the 5 Kw rather than 6 Kw generator. This would be the Amerec AK5 vs. AK6.

Ahh. You're on the cusp.
Using the 5kw will have you waiting slightly longer for the room to heat up.
Average is 15-20 minutes to reach 110 degrees.
The AK5 should be fine if you don't mind the little extra wait time. It also depends on how you bathe.
I was on the cusp as well and went with the lower KW but I go in to my steam shower as soon as steam starts coming out the head so I can acclimate to the heat.
Note that if we size you, we guarantee it's performance so feel free to speak with a Project Coordinator at 800-707-2862.
