Is it necessary to insulate the steam line pipe going through the walls?

It is never a bad idea to insulate your steam line howsever if your steam run is less than 10 feet or so it is not really necessary. Of course if you generator is in a clothes closet you probably want top cover it.

Pipe insulation is always recommended.  It keeps the pipes from sweating condensation, items from melting, precludes steamline burns and gives it a professional look.
