Title: can i upgrade the controls for my Amerec steam generator
Post by: Tommy on June 08, 2009, 07:52:53 AM
I have a steam shower in my basement, and have recently seen a system I would like tto upgrade to.  Amerec has a remote control system called "Freedom Control."  Being that my shower was installed almost two years ago, I am wondering if I can 'add' this to my application, or do I have to start over.  Does anybody have the answer?  My contractor did not know and said I may want to look to this forum for the answer.  Thank you.

While it is possible to upgrade to this operating control, it is not a simple change or "add".
  • First of all, you cannot use your existing operating control.  You can leave it in place, disconnected, or choose to remove it and repair your wall.
  • Second, you must install the control dock for the K200i Freedom Control inside the steam shower environment and run the wiring back to the steam generator.
  • Finally, you have to replace the pc board inside the generator for the control to work.

With these modifications, you can use the Freedom control with your existing Amerec steam generator.
