Title: is a exterior control necessary for my steam room?

some of the steam manufacturers have a external control.  Is this really necessary for the cost?

Having a secondary control is a personal preference.
Would you like to initiate the steam shower without having to step inside the shower?
What if someone showered before you, would you want to step into a wet shower to initiate the steam?
Perhaps you can install the secondary control near your night stand so you can initiate the steam shower without getting out of bed right away.

It's all up to you and what you desire.
