Title: manufacturers diffrences on steam
Post by: 3906Funk on March 07, 2012, 11:54:17 AM
Can you inform me of the different ways a steam generator varies from Manufacturer to Manufacturer?  Some tout quiet steam while others say steam in seconds.  Aren't all steam generators the same?

All steam generators are the same just as all coffee makers are the same.  All steam generators produce steam but may have additional accessories that you may wish to have.
In general, steam generators take about 5 minutes to heat up the water and begin to see steam coming out the steam head outlet.  Many manufacturers offer a feature for expedited steam meaning that you will see steam in a minute or less.  However, both ways will still take 15-20 minutes to get a room temperature up to the average of 110 degrees.
As far as quiet, this pertains to the water supply method.  The majority of steam generators use a water solenoid valve just like on a dishwasher, clothes washer and ice maker, so you will hear some noise when the water fills the tank.  Some have a float mechanism more like what you find in a toilet tank and those tend to supply water quieter.
