Can a sauna have ceramic tile walls and benches instead of wood?

Don't Sail Away quite yet StyxDogs

Tile gets too hot and can be uncomfortable or even burn.  Additionally, it can cause the sauna heater to shutoff prematurely for was is called "Hi Limit" tripping.

A room of Tile will be uncomfortable, unsafe, and won't perform to standards.
Tile on the floor is okay because the temperature at the floor is much lower than at the bench heights and ceiling.

Cedar or Alder is the wood of choice for the best sauna room.

Hope you have "The Best Of Times" in your sauna.  Keep the Heat On!
