Title: Location of Steamhead
Post by: Cindy on February 05, 2009, 06:16:39 PM
Does anyone have any info on what the ideal location is for the steam head?
From what I have been reading, each manufacturer seems to say something different on distance from the floor and distance from the control.
If it helps, for my project, my shower is cultured marble and is 29" deep by 44" wide by 83" high.
The 29" wall is the left & right wall.  The right wall has my shower fixtures and the left wall is the seating area.
One 44" wall is cultured marble with corner caddies and the other 44" wall is the sliding glass doors.

First you need to know what options your particular installation will allow.  Your contractor may be restricted by the existing structure of your shower.

Ideally, the steam head would be located in one of two locations for the environment you describe:  either on the back wall, roughly 12" from the right wall and 8-12" off the floor; or centered on the right wall itself, roughly 8-12" off the floor.  The control should be located near the seat and roughly head-height or 4' off the floor.
