Title: Steam Generator water supply needle valve
Post by: StyxDogs on September 07, 2011, 01:56:56 PM
My plumber wants to use what he says is called a needle piercing valve for the steam generator water supply, yet, in the manual, it says to not use one.

Which is correct?  Needle piercing or not?

Some local codes no longer allow the use of saddle/needle piercing valves on appliances such as ice makers and furnace humidifiers.  Therefore, the steam manufacturers are noting it in their installation manuals.
Local code in most areas now want to see a actual shutoff valve, more like a faucet.
Similar to what is under your bathroom sink or toilet.
