Title: How do I winterize my steam generator?
Post by: Michelle on March 07, 2009, 12:52:27 PM
I have a thermasol pro140 steam machine and am wondering if it is possible to winterize it as it is installed in my summer home and used only during those months.  If it can be done, what do I need to do?  Appreciate the help.... ???

Ideally, you need to maintain enough heat to prevent the unit from freezing.  However, if all heat will be off, you should have a procedure for winterizing all the plumbing in your summer home and this would be no exception.  Failure to properly winterize your equipment will almost surely damage your steam generator.

Draining the water from the unit, draining the water from the plumbing lines, turning off the water coming in to the house, leaving all drain connections open, and turning off the power at the breaker are the standard steps in winterizing household plumbing systems.  All water connections must be restored prior to turning the generator power on again.
