Title: Can we put our steam generator drain on a timer?
Post by: Dani on January 11, 2010, 07:14:32 AM
I am told I have a automatic drain system on my unit.  How often should this drain out?  My contractor installed this pipe to drain inside my shower and it seems to me this is dangerous?  After we steam we generally shower and sometimes we don't get out of the shower fast enough and this violent hot water comes shooting out from under our bench.  Can we put our steam drain on a timer?

The automatic drain system is already on a timer of sorts.
Some generators delay for 20 minutes before draining, some wait 2 hours, some have manual drains which never drain until someone opens the drain handle.

A drain and pressure relief valve should never be installed to output into the shower area and unfortunately you found out why this practice is frowned upon.  Too much liability.
