Title: start up time for steam room
Post by: Vinny on February 09, 2011, 06:54:49 AM
My steam used to come into the room in a very short time and now it takes a few minutes longer. Does then mean i should have it looked at?

Steam generator start up times vary.  If you have FastStart, Warm Start, Express Steam, Instamist, etc. then steam should start emitting from the steam head at about 60 seconds.  Without that feature, steam typically takes about 3-8 minutes to emit from the steam head.

Now, there's also "start up" time in the sense of when the room is ready.  This varies per individual preference.  For instance, my steam generator takes 5 minutes before steam emits from the steam head.  Then I like to go in immediately.  Some people like to wait for the steam room to reach their selected temperature and may not wish to enter the steam room for about 15-20 minutes.

If your steam generator has been taking longer than it used to, it could simply be lime/calcium build up in the tank.  As water boils, it pulls out the impurities and leaves them behind.  Similar to a hot water heater.  Every steam generator has a manufacturers recommendation on maintenance.  Some have PowerFlush, AutoFlush, Auto Drain, or manually flushing and draining.  Check your Owners manual or contact us.
