M husband and I are considering steam in our home and are finding it difficult to make a final decision. We like Thermasol and Steamist, but the problem is we like features from each. Can we use the Thermasol Signature Series and remote control with the Steamist generator? Also, is there an advantage to having an inner and outer control?  Wouldn't one be sufficient?

Any advice would be appreciated!

You cannot use equipment from different manufacturers for your operating system.

As for dual controls, this is a wonderful feature.  Depending on the lifestyle of the bather and the size of the steam room, this is a feature that is worth triple it's weight in convenience.

Your primary control should really have temperature control and this needs to be installed inside the steam shower, by the seat, roughly 4 feet (head level) off the floor.  This is where you would need to reach to turn on the steam shower each time.  So for the hectic household where you may turn on your steam and then have to run out the door before you get to enjoy it, or to turn the unit on and get things warming up before stepping in, you don't have to go into the shower enclosure.  The larger your shower environment, the busier your lifestyle, the bigger the convenience.  This is one of those little things that can make a big difference.

Thank you for your reply on controls! Our lives are quite busy and we definitely desire convenience. Have you any knowledge on the best manufacturer of steam units? As stated previously, we like Thermasol and Steamist.

Steamist and ThermaSol are two of the industry's leading manufacturers in steam bath equipment, along with Mr Steam and Amerec.  These, collectively, are the best the industry has to offer.  Here is a clip from another post on this forum with helpful tips for selecting the right generator for your environment.

As far as which generator series to choose, select one of the industry's leading manufacturers (Amerec, Mr Steam, Steamist, ThermaSol).  Then the decision boils down to features and appearance.  Which of these features are most important to you?  Control and steam head/outlet finish, control features, coordinating light and sound systems, warranty, generator size and shape, drain system method, and tandem requirements are the leading determining factors for most people.

Start by sizing your generator, try this tool... www.steamsaunabath.com//catalog/generator_sizing.php
Then use the handy comparison tool (just select your top choices and click compare).  When you have a good idea of what you like or some questions, give these guys a call and they'll walk you through it.
