I read somewhere that if you have excessive dry skin that you should not use a steam shower or sauna because it pulls the moisture from your skin.  Is this true?  I have excessive dry skin and a steam shower sounds great, but I don't want to do it if it's bad for me.

Steam showers are great for your skin!  Taking a steam shower opens skin pores and releases trapped oils and dirt, increases blood circulation to the skin, relaxes tense facial muscles, loosens dead, dry skin which makes exfoliation easier, and promotes a clear complexion.

With the addition of drinking lots of water, your current skin care routine should be enhanced by steam bathing.  That being said, do check with your doctor if you are currently being treated for any skin conditions.

Without exception, steam and sauna bathing, as with any activity which raises your body temperature, requires drinking plenty of fluids, preferably water, to rehydrate and nourish the body.
