Regardless of which you choose, they are both Preventative Maintenance features.
Most steam generators come with a manual powerflush or manual drain and the autoflush or autodrain is an added accessory.

For a manual powerflush or manual drain there would be a drain valve and periodically you would have to open that drain valve to empty the contents of the tank.

For the Autoflush or Autodrain, some generators allow you to initiate the autoflush/autodrain from the steam shower control pad.  Some manufacturers generators will automatically drain after each steam session.

Check with the manufacturer of your steam generator or a Project Coordinator at SteamSaunaBath 800-707-2862 for additional information.
