In the very early years of steam generators, it was common place to use a 30-minute mechanical timer. This is no longer the case since the dawn of digital control. Digital controls are more reliable and can control temperature where a mechanical timer has absolutely no control over temperature and had to be mounted outside the shower due to its 120 volts.
