Carelian Soapstone for Saunas
Carelian soapstone can withstand intense thermal conditions, making it ideal for regular sauna use. Carelian soapstone has been used by Finnish people for centuries. It was originally formed from fluid volcanic stone in the Carelian mountain range. Ancient Finnish ancestors used Carelian soapstone for fireplaces and cooking utensils due to its high heat and cold retention. After the Industrial Revolution, this stone was largely forgotten until Jokke Ahti rediscovered its potential and created HUKKA Designs. Ahti and his team began using this material to create sustainable wellness products.
